Goldman Sachs is close to completing a rescue of a $7 billion structured investment vehicle (SIV) formerly run by hedge fund Cheyne Capital, a source close to the matter told Reuters. It would be the first rescue of a failed SIV in such a manner, and could spur hopes that the market for asset-backed securities is finally reviving.
