Investor's Business Daily - Surging energy and food prices combined with the housing slump and credit crisis has shaken U.S. chief executives' view of the economy, the Business Roundtable said. Its CEO Economic Outlook Index fell 5 points to 74.5 in Q2, its lowest level since Oct. '03 and the sharpest drop in 2 years. While 68% said they expect sales to rise in the next 6 months, 52% forecast flat U.S. capital spending over the same span. The survey found that 31% expect their companies to cut jobs over the next 6 months, up from 22% in Q1.
