The perils of promotion
      

May 2007,Ã, Derby County winÃ, promotionÃ, to theÃ, Premier League at the expense of West Bromwich Albion. Fast forward 10 months andÃ, Derby areÃ, relegation certainties, while Albion areÃ, pushing for promotion andÃ, returningÃ, to Wembley as FA Cup semi-finalists.
That set me wondering whether promotionÃ, is worthÃ, the subsequent suffering. Could losingÃ, out on a place among theÃ, elite be a blessing in disguise for Championship clubs?
