            Not Too Loud, Or You'll Scare the Cat Away

When the smile fades away
You never think to say goodbye
You never think to pray
That it will one day
Return
Instead you feel shame
You blame
Your wretched self
For letting that smile run off
Someplace
Misplaced
You assume you'll stumble over it
Sometime
Soon
Like that dime
That you found in the alleyway
Yesterday
Maybe next time
If there ever is one
If you get lucky
You might get your work done
But there's always a chance
That that runaway smile
After a while
Might die of starvation
Before you have time to find it
            </p>
