Honda posts surprise Q1 profit gain, U.S. sales solid
      

TOKYO (Reuters) - Honda Motor Co  posted a surprise
8 percent rise in quarterly profit on Friday as solid sales of
its smaller, fuel-efficient cars in the crumbling U.S. auto
market overcame a stronger yen and rising commodity costs.
