NEW YORK (Reuters) - JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co , which bought the banking operations of Washington Mutual Inc  in September, said on Friday it would retain most of the giant thrift's branch banking staff, but planned substantial job cuts at its former headquarters and elsewhere.<div class="feedflare">
