Disinformation on the Web (& the Future of the Book)
      

It would seem that this is the final default use for books in the foreseeable future:

They will serve as authenticators of last resort for certain kinds of claims made by the mysterious denizens of the Web.

Of course, even this use will last only as long as someone, somewhere, still cares about what has actually been written.
