Investor's Business Daily - Martin Feldstein, president of the National Bureau of Economic Research, which declares the start and end for U.S. business cycles, said he believes the economy fell into recession in Dec. or Jan. But he didn't make an official declaration. Feldstein expects the recession to linger longer than the past two recessions, which each lasted 8 months. He expects Q1 GDP data to show growth, but that would be "misleading," he said, because on a monthly basis the economy is declining.
