Court extends judicial remand of Afroz till February 12
A Mumbai court on Tuesday extended till February 12 the judicial custody of Mohammed Afroz Abdul Razak, suspected member of Al Qaeda outfit of terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden, who had planned to blow up targets in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Mohammed Afroz was produced amidst tight security before additional chief metropolitan magistrate V P Taware who extended his remand. The accused did not plead for bail and preferred not to engage any lawyer.
Afroz, on December 18, had made a statement,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, purported to be a confession, about his links with Al Qaeda and its plans to air-dash targets in foreign countries.
Afroz's statement was recorded in-camera.
The accused had already confessed before police and revealed the conspiracy hatched by Laden's outfit to create terror worldwide.
The 26-year-old Afroz, arrested from Navi Mumbai on  December 3, had confessed that he had visited Australia, USA,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, UK,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, Hong Kong and China between 1997 and 2001.
He had also disclosed that suicide squads had been formed by Al Qaeda to carry out attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, the British parliament in London, Romal Tower in Australia and Parliament House in New Delhi.
Afroz had been deputed to the squad meant for the attack in Britain.
