Everyone should be happy with their job. No one wants to be miserable and at a job that they hate. If you are stuck in a job that you dislike you aren't working at your full potential. You are probably only doing the bare minimum requirements to sustain your employment. When you love your job it isn't really considered a job. You'll want to go everyday and it'll be effortless. There will be less stress and because it will radiate from within you others will notice and you get raises, bonuses and promotions will relative ease. This alone should inspire you to get a career that you are passionate about and career guidance will only help you get there.

You might also find a forum that you can talk to others about the potential career you are thinking about. They will be able to tell you about what experiences they've had and what you can expect.
A career coach is someone that will help guide you after you've made a decision on the road you want to take. Both of you will normally talk a few times a week to so that they can be apprised of your status and make sure you are on track with your goals.
