America in Crisis: Facing the Real Issues
Almost everyone I talk to has the same worries that I do: if America keeps heading in the same path, we will not survive. OK, I know what you're thinking: we've been around for 200+ years, we're a major power in the world; we've always bounced back from any financial troubles; you're over-reacting, etc, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login's time we faced the tough issues of our times from the same perspective that our Founding Fathers did; from the perspective of what God would have us to do.Our Constitution: Based on God's LawsNo other nation has survived once it started on the moral decline that America has been on since the 1960's. We've become so obsessed with getting ahead and being "politically correct" that we've tolerated everything, and stood for nothing. The very principles that our country was founded on have been forgotten. Our Constitution is said to be a "living, breathing document that must change with the times". This is ludicrous! Our founding fathers were all devout believers in God. They framed our Constitution with Judeo-Christian values at the very core of this document. They wanted to frame the Constitution so that our laws would be held up to God's standards, not brought down to man's standards. They wanted our country and our laws to be held to high moral and ethical standards. Not to the passing whims of society, and certainly not subject to being degraded by those who have no respect for the laws of God.Who Are We? It's easy to say you're a Christian or a Jew. Most of our citizens claim to be believers in God. True believers put their belief into practice on a daily basis. They maintain a relationship with God; they join in worship so that the bonds of their relationship will stay strong. They pray, they praise God, and seek his wisdom. Not just in the tough times when they need something from God; they make it a habit in their daily lives. They don't just show up at church or Temple for major holidays, weddings, Bar Mitzvahs. We can't just ignore God and his commandments in our day to day lives,You are not allowed to view links. We may think that our lives and our children's lives are great, that we are "good people" doing "good deeds", being "good" to others. Don't we tolerate those who want freedom of choice to live their lives as they see fit? Don't we provide for those less fortunate? Don't we try to make peace with other nations who are out to destroy us? Certainly all our good acts will earn us a place in Heaven, whether or not we live a "religious" life. Certainly God will continue to reward us and our country.I used to think that, too. I was brought up in the South, in a church going family. I've always believed in Jesus and in God's commandments. I've tried to do what was right, and failed many times. Along the way I became tolerant of too many things. I became part of the culture around me. I wanted to fit in,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, to feel loved and needed and looked up to. I overlooked too many actions by people that I considered to be "basically good people". Then I found myself overlooking God's commandments in my own life, often with disastrous results. It was easy to make excuses. It became less and less easy as I got older, and saw how my children and grandchildren could and would be affected if they did the same.Where Do We Go From Here? It's time to realize that we don't have the answers to our current problems; that we need to find the answers by (1) praying to God for forgiveness for our individual and collective sins and (2) asking Him to bring about a revival in our nation. God is the real crux of the matter. He can't be happy with the state of our nation. We've kicked him out of our schools,You are not allowed to view links. In some cases we've all but thrown him out of our churches and synagogs by re-interpreting his laws to make our congregations more "in line with the times".? Let's not offend anyone, after all.Israel was chosen by God to be His special nation. Throughout history God has blessed Israel with amazing things. He has also judged and punished Israel harshly when the Israelites turned from God and His commandments. They were made to wander in the wilderness for 40 years; they were taken into captivity; their Temple was destroyed, and on and on. And don't forget about Sodom and Gomorrah. Are we next?I'm not a fatalist, by any means. I've always been optimistic, and looked at the "glass half full". But,You are not allowed to view links. Believe me, we are in a sinkhole and it's starting to stink. We're digging ourselves deeper and deeper, instead of digging ourselves out. We need a helping hand. We need You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login future blogs I will explore our problems in more detail. Won't you join me in asking God to forgive our country and to provide a revival, as He has done at other crucial times in our history? We can talk all we want, but only God can provide the real answers.
