Credit Card Debt Serivices - Avoiding Debt Negotiation Fraud
               Tweet
ShareThe development of the debt negotiation industry has proven to be an enormous help for many. When a person is overwhelmed with a significant amount of debt, the ability to climb out from under the mountains of credit card bills, past due notices and even tax liens can prove next to impossible. Thanks to debt negotiation professionals, the ability to deal with such issues can be successfully undertaken - provided the debt negotiation service is legitimate. There are, however, some less than desirable people out there taking advantage of those in need of legitimate services. How do you know when a service is below board?
Here are a number of signs to watch out for:
Does the service offer outrageously high fees? This is never a good sign because it can make you wonder if they are trying to rack up as much money as possible in as soon of a time as possible. If it looks like the negotiator is trying to take advantage of you or may be considering closing shop soon, you probably would want to look elsewhere for professional representation.
Are they making claims that they can remove unsecured debt or negative information from your credit report? Such assessments are flat out ridiculous. Unless the information that is appearing on your credit report is false,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, then it cannot be removed from the report. To claim otherwise would be a faux statement and such a service is best avoided. They simply are not being honest with you in terms of the services they offer.
Credit Card debt services that try to isolate you from your creditors should also be avoided. Yes,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, when they tell you to take the extra step of not talking with your creditors or not to make direct payments to them, then the service may be less than legitimate. Really, why would they be trying to prevent you from communicating with a creditor unless they were trying to hide something?
Are they making outrageous statements on behalf of your creditor? For example, are they saying that your creditor will not sue you under any circumstances? They are most definitely not in a position to make such statements since this is not their call...and you would be the one left with the problems if you take such faulty advice.
Another common sign of a fraudulent debt negotiation service would be one that states they can guarantee no negative report will be placed on your credit rating. When you settle a portion of a debt or seek to have minimum monthly payments or interest rates lowered,You are not allowed to view links. Does the service say you will not be responsible for paying the entire amount you owe back? If so,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, how do they intend to see this through? Yes, there are legitimate debt settlement services out there. Nevertheless, the actual negotiation for such a settlement needs to be carried out. The debt negotiation agency cannot make such a statement without arriving at a deal with the creditor.
Again, there are a number of solid and excellent debt negotiation services out there. You just need to avoid signing on with the fraudulent ones because they can certainly cause you more pain and aggravation than what you will want to deal with.
