If you fancy travelling the waterways by a less energetic method, you can also travel by Edwardian cruiser, or even hire your own steamer!
You can also shop 'till you drop at the Covered Market in the High Street, where you can get a range of local produce, plus many other unusual items from saddles to rare books. There are many other places to shop in Oxford, including the usual high street stores and some excellent antique and jewellery stores. As you stroll around the street of Oxford, you can enjoy the sights on the way back to your Oxford hotel with your purchases, as the whole of this lovely town is very picturesque. The city centre itself is not too big to be seen on foot, but if you have too many purchases to carry back to your Oxford hotel, why not travel in style and hire a rickshaw to take you back.
You could book into an Oxford hotel for a romantic break with your sweetheart, and take her for a stroll by the river and a romantic kiss or two as mistletoe grows wild from the trees. Or hold her close as she shivers with fear on one of the frightening ghost tours round the haunted places of Oxford. You may also hear the haunting sound of one of Oxford's lovely choirs as they practise in the church.
One of the best ways to see Oxford is to get directions from your Oxford hotel to one of their magnificent open topped bus tours. You can hop on and hop off, and they go all round the city. It is an excellent way to see the University sights. You can also see where oxford's famous detective, Inspector Morse, investigated his cases.
