The Fighter: Britannica Oscar Brief

Russell, in a surprisingly conventional turn). The lion’s share of the hosannas, however, have fallen on the film’s performances, especially those of Christian Bale and Melissa Leo, who invest their showy supporting rolesâ€"which some have charged teeter close to caricatureâ€"with gritty humanity.
