U.S. Panel Nixes Automatic Calcium and Vitamin D Supplementation

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has published a new recommendation statement regarding vitamin D and calcium intake in older adults. The statement, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine on Monday, concluded that there is not enough scientific evidence to prove that daily supplementation of calcium and vitamin D in older adults leads to fewer bone fractures or greater bone health in general.
