Drug-Resistant Bacteria in Oklahoma, No Reporting to CDC

On Tuesday, top officials of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sounded an alarm about what agency director Tom Frieden, M.D., M.P.H. , termed "nightmare bacteria," a family of 70 different bacteria of which some have developed strong resistance to antibiotics. The bacteria are collectively termed carbapenem-resistant enterobacteriaceae, or CRE, has been in-patient health care facilities in at least 42 states, one of which is Oklahoma.
