NOPI Nationals - No Sleep 'Til NOPI

NOPI Nationals - No Sleep 'Til NOPI
NOPI Nationals - No Sleep 'Til NOPI - Super Street Magazine
Every year we say that the NOPI Nationals (conveniently held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway) is the biggest car show in the land because... well... it is. Once again, we took a long ass flight, followed by a slightly shorter drive, just so we could check out the best automotive event the East Coast has to offer.

This year's show--while still an overwhelmingly massive spectacle of sick rides, drifting and Asian models shouting "Me so horny!"--was a little bit smaller than the NOPI Nationals of the past. With only two Super Street staffers on hand to cover the shenanigans, this slightly scaled-down NOPI was much appreciated.

But not all was well in the land of greasy turkey legs: The fact that half of our tour bags never made it to NOPI threatened to put a damper on our spirits. Bummer for the crowd, but it meant less work for us. It's not like we worked that hard, anyway; Jonny blew off his duties so that he could sign autographs for every single person (all three of them!) who bought the Super Street t-shirt with his face on it. Publisher Howard Lim rocked the only XXXL shirt we had in an attempt to look more gangsta. And new fish Token (that's me!) spent his day fighting the crowd for T.I. shots, missing Skid Row and jocking that Civic with the Hello Kitty livery. Good times.

NOPI Drift Finals!
The final round of the inaugural NOPI Drift Series was conveniently held at the NOPI Nationals. With upwards of $30,000 up for grabs for the person that could win both the round and the series, all the drivers came to the ATL with their A game.

But just as Highlander tells us, there can be only one. And that "one" was Enjuku Racing's Bill Sherman. Bill won both the final round and the world championship, putting an assload of cash in his pocket and making his sponsors very happy.
