<p>Another X Games has come and gone, and while we didn't see the return of our beloved Sky Surfing and Street Luge competitions, we still saw enough extreme action to satisfy our inner Mountain Dew Code Red-loving extremely extreme dude. Bob Burnquist took the gold medal in the Skateboard Big Air contest while Kevin Robinson accomplished the same feat on a BMX bike. In higher-flying news, X Games Moto-X newbie Kyle Loza unveiled his new trick, "The Volt," and took home the Moto-X Best Trick gold. That stuff is all well and good, but we cover cars here at Super Street, not extreme athletes. Thankfully, LA's X Games 13 had some high-flyin' car action for us to check out as well, giving us an excuse to leave the office and check out tanned, blonde pro-hos in the name of "work."</p><p>The X Games Rally Super Special stage returned for a second year, and the big news is one of our own guys, Tanner "Foxy" Foust, took home the gold medal. Of course, Tanner's win didn't come easily; the man faced some very tough competition--namely, Travis "The Golden Boy" Pastrana, Ken "Mr. DC" Block and rally god Colin "McFlip" McRae.</p><p>McRae took himself out with an updated version of 2006's spectacular flip, this time high-centering himself on a water barrier, leaving Foust and his SYMS-prepped WRX to fight it out against the factory-built "works" cars of crowd favorites Pastrana and Block. Pastrana was on fire all day, and it was looking as if he would easily earn his second X Games Rally gold medal. But the Golden Boy came in a little too hot at the end of his semi-final race against Foust, crossed over his line, hit Foust and was subsequently disqualified, resulting in a deafening "boo" from the crowd. But since rally is a sport where fans don't get to make the final call, no matter how loud they boo, the DQ stood.</p><p>After his battle with Pastrana, Foust immediately headed to the final battle against Monstor STI of Ken Block. When we say "immediately," we mean it--Foust didn't have any time to rest or prep for the final race. Must have been a TV thing, we guess. As soon as the "go" signal was given, Block shot right out of the hole and basically left Foust four seconds behind. Most people would simply give up the race if they were four seconds behind a Works car, but not Tanner. Everyone was saying that Foust would need a miracle to catch up, let alone pull ahead. But "Foxy" Foust didn't need a miracle--he had more than enough skill to close that four-second window. Without a functioning e-brake, a necessity in rallying, Foust turned his driving skill up to 11 and managed to beat Block right at the finish line.</p><p>It was a classic photo finish; Foust literally won the race just by a nose and earned that X Games gold medal. Block walked off with a not-too-shabby X Games silver medal, and teammate Pastrana still managed to take home a bronze despite his collision with Foust. We're psyched that ESPN brought the rally cars back for a second year, and we're really hoping that the flying sedans come back for a third year. It would be a damn shame if the world's most exciting motorsport went the way of Sky Surfing...</p>
