Super Street Time Attack - Valley of the Sun

Super Street Time Attack - Valley of the Sun
Super Street Time Attack - Import &Tuner Car Event Coverage - Super Street Magazine
Just when the weather started heating up, we packed up our things and headed out to the desert for the first round of our Time Attack qualifiers. With our gear and banners stuffed into our project STI, we were grateful that it could stand up to the abuse of lugging Shrek and Nads around for a 750-mile or so round trip bonanza. Life would have really sucked if it had broke down and left us stranded; easy pickings for the Hills Have Eyes mutants.

Since Jason Boles from NASA promoted the event for us ahead of time, the turnout was significantly larger than last year's. For those of you who aren't familiar with how this goes, there are hundreds of cars that want to run in our finals in November. That means we have to trim the number down significantly so there isn't so much traffic on the track; we're not going to spend three days in dirty Buttonwillow. Most of the major speedy dudes and top tuners will already be invited. Everyone else has to place at one of our qualifying events to score an exclusive invite to run with the big boys. Get it?

HPDE 4 and TT, the fastest guys with run experience, are the groups to watch for. But for those of you still getting used to track life, HPDE 1 would be more your speed. With our lack of track time, the Super Street staffers would definitely be lifetime members of HPDE 1.

Sprinkled throughout the two days were drift sessions that left PIR all smoked out like a Funk Doobiest concert. On Sunday afternoon, Tage Evanson hosted a Time Attack in which the fastest cars of the weekend had a chance to run the track by themselves. Well, almost. There were three cars on the track at once, but they were spaced just far enough out for the driver in front to know that he would be chased down if he didn't step it up. Sounds a bit confusing, but you'd have to see it in person to get the gist of it (hint, hint).

Results
