Sound Card issues on Laptop

Ehh.... I figured I'd post here to see if I could get some help on something that has been messed up for awhile.

On my Acer Aspire 3000 laptop, my sound card got screwed up and basically, the hardware itself is ruined.  Factory reset doesn't work as well as reinstalling the drivers, etc.  It is the hardware that has the problem.

And so I am here asking if there is any possible way to replace a sound card on a laptop.  I know they make USB sound cards, which is not a bad solution, but then I would need speakers for my laptop as well, since the built in speakers are a part of the built in sound card system, and can not play through a different sound card.

So any ideas?  I can't take the laptop  back for a warranty because it is over the limit.  So my options are simply, replace the sound card or use a USB sound card.



P.S.
  Also, in the case of replacing things such as a sound card on a laptop, can you replace the graphics card on a laptop?  Since laptops don't have PCI slots it doesn't really allow for the insertion of a simple card, so either they can't be replaced, or it is very complicated.

Dude u faced a close prob to which i faced in my old laptop
ur only option is to get a new one cuz it appears its a hardware problem
anyways its going to be expensive wrt destops hardware
just a crazy idea but works  if u want to get a usb card
u can have speakers but an easier [not neat] way is to disable the buildtin laptop speakers and make tidy connections to the usb card output
i hope u got what i mean by that u can get 2 wires from ur pc body somewhere near the usb port reaching the sound card with an rc plug (or what ever the sound card plug type)

before doin anything it might be a slight hardware failure

once i had my cdrom not working i tried the impossible once i sent my laptop to get repaired i was found out that nothing wrong with it it just got a shock and moved the drive a bit and put it back in place and it worked

Where would I take it to get it checked then? I really am not interesting in spending repair cost just because I am quite sure the hardware itself was corrupted.

Essentially, it was like when you get a surge durring a storm, and items plugged directly into outlets can be ruined.  Only it was like a surge to my soundcard.  Not a simple shock.  I was trying a crazy recording setup and misjugded the output going into the laptops 'line in'.  So once I tried to record, the laptop gave me a message that it did not have a sound device.

Since then I've reinstalled the drivers, changed my OS, factory reset, I've opened up my laptop to check out the soundcard itself, but could not find any problems.  It has to be internal with the built in card itself.



I had a problem with my keyboard not too long ago. First, it did not work at all.  So I had no keyboard.  After a little while I got very frustraighted and opened up my laptop.  After checking the keyboard internally, I simply turned it back on and only two keys worked(the 's' and 'z' keys).  Then I opened it back on and very carefully examined it. This is when I found that the keyboards connection to the mother board was lose, so I reconnected it and viola. The keyboard worked again.

I have tried looking at all the connections related to the soundcard, and i've reconnected them and i've inspected all the hardware, but it seems that it is not an issue of simple repair. You can buy new CD/DVD drives for a laptop and have them installed.  As far as I've ever known(and now after this concluding my searches), you can not replace a sound card on a laptop.  A sound card is built into the giant green chip that is the motherboard.  So a sound card can not be lose, and it can not have a bad connection.  The only connections are to the speakers and the input connections(for a mic and line in).  So nothing other than that could have been lose.


I guess this really sucks then, finding out that sound cards can't really be replaced.  I would give the usb hack a try, but I wouldn't feel comfortable messing with the connections.

It looks like a USB sound card is my only option here then.  Thanks for you help and feedback guys.

as u have checked the connections well this sent u to a block end
either send it to a friend who rapairs pc( he shouldnt take much from u ) or get the usb

LOLs my old pc got no keyboard too it suddely stopped working when it pissed me off and made me buy a new one

Or it might just be that your using a mic that is screwed up, or some kinda prog. that when u plug, on or so anything else, this happened to me, the prob was my mic when i plug used to mkae some kinda noises but now it okey, so just mkae sure you dont use any kinda bad things....
