What is difference between 'Save' and 'Save As'?

In many applications under 'File' menu, it is common to see these 'Save' and 'Save As' options. Both these options are used to save the files in hard disk or floppy disk. But, what is the difference between these two options? You may ask, why is there two different options for achieving the same task? Though both options do the same thing, there are differences in these two. When you use 'Save' option, the file currently you are creating will be saved in the same name. If the file in use has not been saved before and this is the first time you are saving, then you will be prompted for the file name. Once you give that name the file will be saved. When you work on the same file again and you click 'Save' the file will be saved in the same name. This time you won't be prompted for a name.
But when you select, 'Save As', the same file can be saved in a different name. That is, you are working on a file and editing the file. In this file you make some changes and you want this file with the changes to be saved as another file then you choose 'Save As' to save it in a different name. After saving, if you open the 'windows explorer' and look at the folder, you will see two files, one with the original name and the other one with the new name.
