Unable to Use the Re-sort Button to Sort Start Menu

When you click the Re-sort button on the Advanced tab in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box, some folders under the Programs menu may not be sorted properly. This issue can occur if you attempt to sort the Start menu after several new folders are created under the Programs menu. To work around this behavior, follow these steps: Right-click any item on the Programs menu. Click Sort by You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login use the Re-sort button, manually move one of the new folders, and then sort the Start menu. If you install one or more programs or you manually create multiple folders in Windows Explorer, some of the new folders under the Programs menu may not be sorted properly when you attempt to sort the Start menu.
