His rep blamed it on exhaustion Monday.
Berry, 84 You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, slumped over an accompanist's keyboard about an hour into his performance, the AFP reported. He was helped off stage, but attempted to continue his set 15 minutes later. He was quickly taken off stage again, and checked out by paramedics.
Berry returned to the stage one more time to thank fans with his signature "duck walk" and then left the venue in a limousine. He did not go to the hospital. He returned to his home in St. Louis to recover on Sunday.
"I'm sorry to see his health be in that shape You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login," boogie piano player Vijay Tellis-Nayak, who performed with Berry that night, told the AFP. "He obviously loves performing. The music is still there. It's hard to see his health deteriorating. He may be working harder than he should."
Berry, best known for his hit "Johnnie B. Goode," had performed twice in New York Friday night.
