It is expected to be 10’o clock or later tonight before there is a first count result from the Laois Offaly constituency count centre in Birr.
Tally figures point to massive vote for Finance Minister Brian Cowen. The tally points to him securing almost 27% of the vote,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, with approximately 7,500 surplus votes to distribute.
Tom Parlon’s brief sojourn in politics seems to be at an end with tally figures suggesting his vote has been halved.
Charlie Flanagan looks set to return to Leinster House, polling in the region of 9,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login,600 votes. He is likely to be joined by his Fine Gael colleague Olwyn Enright.
The real battle for seats will feature the remaining three Fianna Fáil candidates, outgoing TDs John Moloney and Sean Fleming and newcomer John Foley.
