His works are selling off the shelves across Germany, in record numbers; publishers cannot reissue his works fast enough, especially Das Kapital, to keep up with the demand, as German universities have made him a prime topic for studying in an attempt to understand the crisis affecting capitalist economies.
As this video explains, German scholars are quick to argue that this surge of interest in Karl Marx and Marxist theory does not signal a resurgence of Marxism, but Germany's left-wing, socialist parties disagree and hope to "capitalize" on the situation in the next federal elections.
