The latest has the project shelved for what is apparently engineering reasons, namely the chassis stiffening needed to provide a solid platform would weigh so much as to ruin the all-important handling characteristics of the car. The intensity of the car's feverish rumors can be attributed to two things; the desire of the motoring press (and the public) to get a drop-top GT86/FR-S and the jaw-dropping FT-86 Open Concept that Toyota unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The car's shape just works as a convertible. Hopefully Toyota will see the light.
a
Photo Gallery: GT86/FR-S Roadster Axed - Super Street Magazine
