Spain: Proposed New Maximum Speeds - Up & Downs

<table cellspacing="0" align="right" border="0" width="84" cellpadding="5"><tr><td><img src="http://photos.imageevent.com/motorbiker/flags/sp-flag.gif" width="81" height="54" title="Spain flag" alt="Spain flag" border="0"></a></td></tr></table>The Spanish General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), after a review of speed limits in Spain, have drafted a new law concerning speed limits and a few other transportation related issues.<br><br>

The most important ones concern the maximum speed limits on the motorways. Depending on road conditions and general state of the roads, the speed limit can be raised to 130 kph (currently 120 kph). On the secondary roads, again depending on the state and width of the road, maximum speeds will vary. If the width is 6.5 meters, the speed limit is lowered from 100 kph to 90 kph. If the width is less than 6.5 meters, speed limit goes between 50 and 70 kph. If there's no visible lines on the narrow roads, speed limit is set to 50 kph........... <br><br>
