 Magic Tricks Revealed
In the olden days, when the computer did not exist, the mode of communication was through the newspaper and the radio. The secrets of the magic world were highly guarded.

Magicians had to invent their own tricks and they did not like to tell the general public about the methods involved behind such tricks. One of the most famous magicians of all times is Houdini. He is still considered to be the father of magic and is revered by the people belonging to the magic world.

Houdini had started editing a section of a newspaper in which he would reveal details about how to perform certain tricks. The paper was called the New York World and Houdini was the editor of the Sunday section called the Red Magic Section.

This section largely consisted of puzzles, brainteasers, jokes, optical illusions and the like; but Houdini also gave away the secrets of a few tricks. Other magicians did not like this as it started affecting their livelihood.

One such performer was David P. Albott. Albott who had invented the talking tea kettle. Houdini revealed the trick behind this kettle in one of his articles saying that how a special radio was built into the teakettle. By putting the spout of the kettle to your ear someone in another room would whisper a message to the listener. This enraged Albott a lot and he complained about it to others.

Moreover, Houdini never revealed any tricks which were a part of his performance. This naturally enraged everyone and the paper was finally forced to withdraw this section within a couple of months.

Nowadays, with the coming in of the computer, there are a large number of websites which offer to teach magic tricks for a small fee. They even provide a few magic tricks for free. Hence, the high level of secrecy maintained by magicians in yesteryears has become a thing of the past.
