NEW YORK (Reuters) - Cost cuts and favorable taxes allowed drugmakers Merck &amp; Co  and Schering-Plough Corp  to post quarterly results ahead of Wall Street targets on Tuesday, sending shares higher despite waning sales for their shared cholesterol treatments.<div class="feedflare">
