            My cover of the Beatles Yesterday which was released in 1965.  Yesterday, a Paul McCartney composition, was credited to Lennon-McCartney.  To simply say that Yesterday was a #1 hit is almost to do it an injustice: it is, far and away, the most covered pop song of all time, with over 3,000 recorded versions, according to the Guinness Book of Records.  It has received more air play than almost any other pop song  having been played over 8 million times on radio and television. (It would take roughly 40 years to play this song 8 million times in a row).  Yesterday was the most-played song on American radio for eight consecutive years.  Yesterday was voted the Best Song of the 20th Century in a 1999 BBC Radio poll.
