            Chapter One(:

12 seconds left in the final basketball game of the 2008-2009 season for the Eastdale Lady Lions,
the score tied 56-56, like most final games.  This one was for all the marbles, and a really
big trophy.  West High Frogs had the ball, their most presitgious shooter at the free throw line.
The foul was called on Jamie Hopkins, a definite fake foul that had her more frustrated than ever.
The first shot had been sunk, the second one .. bounces off and is up for the rebound!  5' 11" Melissa Evans
grabs the ball and passes it to Jamie, who drives down the court. Jamie reaches the three point line with 7 seconds
on the clock.  3 pointers, definitely not my area of expertise Jamie thinks.  She dribbles around the paint into a better shooting
range, then spots Amy Watkins begging for the ball on the three point line.  Yeah, right Jamie thinks.  She takes the shot,
and JAMIE HOPKINS MAKES THE GAME WINNING SHOT;; THE CROWD GOES WILD.  EVERYONE RUNS OUT ON THE FLOOR,
PICKS JAMIE UP AND STARTS CARRYING HER AROUND THE GYM
"JAMIE, JAMIE, JAMIE.." everyone is chanting. all the sudden Jamie feels the crowd going out from under her...and... She's falling?

"Jamie! Jamie! Wake up! First day of school, you better not be late!"
"OW!" Jamie screams, having managed to fall off her bed and hit her head on her bedside table.
"I'm up Mom! I'll be down in a little while!" she screams back to her mother, obviously baking something for the occasion of first day of
sophomore year. Wonderful, a knot on the head for first day of school., Jamie thinks, now... what to wear?

well, not much of a cliffhanger; but i didn't feel like adding any more to chapter one.
