THIS HORSE'S STORY!!! In November of 2006, my now pony looked bound for slaughter, he was completely emaciated at an auction and was covered in sores and scars. Luckily, my Mum's friend was there and when she saw that a meat man was bidding for him, she made sure to buy him. She bought that pony for €15. It was no surprise that he was petrified of people (particularly men) and he spent 8 months being rehabilitated before he was at a standard at which he would be rideable. He was unwanted my the children and was much too fragile to become a school-horse which was when my Mum stepped in and we were given him. On the passport it says I own him and I've never felt more proud. But one year ago, I entered a massive yard - horses, goats, pigs everywhere. But this pony caught my eye. I didn't even know if this was the pony we were looking at, but I had been drawn to him - this must have been fate! We went into the school and I had a little ride - galloping like headless chickens without stirrups or reins for 20 minutes. When I fell, I knew you were meant for me. I know that sounds weird, but it's true. 2months into our ownership of him, I started to ride him and later that month we started competing . We won a rosette at his first ever show and only his second time jumping. I had an appalling seat and still he tried to please. In 2008 we joined SWDRC and continued with NTPC. We had jumping training once a fortnight, competitions every week end and dressage lessons once a fortnight. But you were still chronically spooky, you never touched a rail - you were scared of the sound. I didn't start using a whip until March - and only in a jump off. In April we made the SWDRC SJ && XC teams! We aslso qualified for the TRAILBLAZER NATIONAL SHOWJUMPING FINALS!In June, for my 13th birthday, we registered you with the BSJA and he has only been to 5 shows but together we have won £34 notional. We are now regular members on SWDRC and NTPC showjumping teams - so f*** all the people who said he wasn't good enough, that I would never be as a good a rider as I am today or that we wouldn't be able to jump 2'6''!!! We've jumped 5'3''/1.60m so SUCK ON THAT you very jealous bastards. The bullies have only spurred us on! Thankyou though to: BSJA Emi Bubzie Schnaps Rob SWDRC NTPC Mummy :P
I taught Georgie to:
canter under saddle
do counter canter
go on the right lead
do flying changes
leg yield
half pass
turn on the forehand
a little bit of walk and trot pirouette
touching on passage
collect in walk, trot and canter
extend in walk, trot and canter
jump
compete
do everything really lol :)
we can't afford anything at home so we have really basic livery and we can't jump at home so we had to teach Georgie at Pony club lessons once a fortnight and jumping logs, banks and ditches at home. we had to pay for BSJA membership using our own prize money we had won together and we couldn't afford any entry fees for BSJA after Trailblazers so we had so wait until September and we had a really good entry to that - we have won over 100 in just over a years' competing. this makes our journey even more remarkable :)
