When you hold it have 4 fingers below holding each finger on one of the metal "loops", and the thumb on top, also on one of the metal loops.
Have the second hand under the raccoon like you are making him a cradle with your hand (like a baby), and have your 4 fingers under his tail.

The things that make it looks most alive is wiggling his tail (by bouncing it on your fingers), and moving it's head to "look" around by playing with your thumb and the 4 fingers below, now don't over do it, or it will look like it has rabies or something.
It's kind of hard at first to patter, keep the tail moving, and the head moving all at the same time and keep doing so, but with practice this will get very natural.
Practice on making conversation between you and him (he don't have to talk back if ventriloquism is not your thing), or between you and someone else while he is watching. Think of how a small child will act, if you talk to some one it will look on you when you are talking and at someone else when he talks.
you can try to pretend showing a trick to the raccoon (things you can do with one hand of course), like bouncing a coin and make him follow it with his head, and then pretend to throw it, make him still look up for it, and hide it in your pocket, and then when you make him look back down make him look confused by making him looking around.
You can make him feed from your hand with his butt, that's always a funny thing.
You can make it climb up your shirt by "hugging" him with one hand when the 4 finger are under his butt, and with the second hand pet him, that way you can wiggle his tail and when you want it to climb either you push him up slowly to make it look like it is slowly climbing, or lightly hit him on the butt so it will look like he jumps up.
