Erdnase Diagonal Palm Shift - Vernon Improvement?

I am keen to begin practicing the Diagaonal Palm Shift as described by Erdnase in Expert at the Card Table (non annotated). I refer to the palm as described, rather than the bottom/top change.

I have heard however that there is an improvement to the Erdnase method by Vernon which makes palming of the card(s) a bit easier.

Could someone please confirm this?
