I was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia for 18 years until I moved to the States for college back in 2004 and I have been staying here in Seattle You are not allowed to view links. I'm married to my first love whom I've been together with since January 2005 and I have also made up my mind about staying in the US.I have to admit that there is a positive and negative side of staying so far away from where I was from. First of all, all of my family member sill resides in Jakarta. Second, I miss all the yummy food!!! We do have Indonesian restaurants here and I cook whenever I'm not too tired after coming back from work but man.. sometimes I wish we have a "mie tek tek" just walking around outside of our house and I can just enjoy dinner right away, or a run to a Padang restaurant.. or even warteg! Another issue is kids. Me and my husband are planning on having kids when I'm around 26 which is in 2011.. and with my family so far away, will my parents (and brothers and sister) be involved in my kids' life? I don't know.. My husband is in the Navy so we can try to apply to get stationed closer to Indo, maybe in Aussie or Japan but again.. It's a little sad every time I remember that my parents won't be able to fully enjoy their first-time "granparenthood" since I'm the oldest in the family.But then again, whenever I hear or remember how life was in Jakarta with the never-ending traffic jams You are not allowed to view links. We don't have to go to a mall to enjoy our weekends. All we need to do is put on our walking shoes and take a walk to the park near our house, grab some books and snacks, lay down on the grass and enjoy the day. Sometimes we would go to theater performances (dramas) instead of going to the movies.I don't know, I guess I'm just ranting on and on about everything that's in my mind.
