How to set the Master/Slave Designation on a Hard Drive
When more than one hard drive is installed on a computer, each drive competes for control of the computer. To allow both drives to work in smoothly on the same system, the controlling drive is designated the one is master drive and the other drive is designated the slave drive. You can change this designation with each other. The following steps apply to any computer.

Decide which hard drive will boot your system, should be (master) drive. If this drive was the startup drive previously, or if it's a new hard drive, then the master drive designation will already be set.
To change the designation of a new drive to be a slave drive.
To change the designation of an existing master drive to a slave drive: Shut down the computer, unplug the power supply, remove the drive from its drive box, and disconnect the drive from its power cord and ribbon cable.
Check the hard drive label on the drive itself for master/slave jumper settings, because it is not same for all hard drives
Find the jumpers on the circuit board of the drive. Jumpers are plastic plugs with metal sleeves that form a circuit between a pair of pins. Jumper locations are labeled on the board.
Use any tweezers or very small pliers to reposition the jumpers to the configuration according to the disk label.
After changing jumpers according to your need (master/salve), plug the ribbon and power cable then simply boot your system.
