The 437 youths who were detained after overnight clashes with police in Copenhagen have been released, but will all be charged later, police spokesman Flemming Steen Munch said today.

Rock-throwing youths clashed with police on Saturday after officers prevented a crowd of several thousand people from reaching a vacant waterworks, which they have sought to use as a place for parties and concerts.
The youths wanted the waterworks to replace the so-called Youth House, a popular hangout for anarchists, punk rockers and left-wing groups,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, which was torn down in March.
The City of Copenhagen sold the Youth House to a Christian congregation six years ago, and evicted the anarchists in March in order to hand the building over to its new owners, who subsequently tore it down.
The youths have claimed the city had no right to sell the building and have staged several demonstrations demanding a new house.
In Saturday’s violence, protesters set fires and tried to climb over police cars blocking a road,You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, prompting officers to fire tear gas.
Built in 1897, the Youth House was a community theatre for the labour movement and a cultural and conference centre. Vladimir Lenin was among its visitors. In recent years, it had hosted concerts by performers such as Australian musician Nick Cave and Icelandic singer Bjork.
