Rhino’s are part of the big five animals of the wild. They are also one of the biggest attractions to visitors in Africa. They are of two types; the white and the black rhino.   Rhinos have a very big threat from poachers. Humans have also encroached on their habitats by clearing a lot of land for cultivation. Poachers are after their horns. These animals have two horns on their snout. One is usually larger than the other and it is used to attack when they are in danger. There is a myth that rhinoceros horn has aphrodisiac abilities and it’s why poachers kill them, remove the horn and sell it to the Asian countries where the myth is deeply rooted. There is no real truth in this.
Rhinos are also dwindling very fast in numbers. There difference in names is not in colors but the snout. The white one has a large padded snout for grazing. The other one has a hooked up lip that enables it to grasp shrubs and tree leaves while browsing. Never buy anything you suspect has been made from wild animals. By doing this you will be encouraging poachers to continue killing the animals. Remember wildlife colors the word Africa because most of the rare species are based there.
