The first thing that you should check is to see if you are having a problem with low or dead batteries. There's no need for you to replace the batteries in order to check this, it can easily be checked from the options menu on the Wii home screen. Look at the bottom of your remote in order to see which number it has been assigned. Match that number with the remote on the screen and you will easily be able to see how much life your batteries have left.
