US$100 laptop gets a price increase

arstechnica.com -- Even as Nicholas Negroponte and his team revealed a working prototype of their vaunted US$100 laptop last week, skeptics wondered if the price could truly be kept so low. The answer is apparently no, as the cost of the device has now risen to US$130 to $140, though Negroponte expects this to drop once production ramps up. By 2008, he hopes that the cost of the device will have fallen to the originally-predicted US$100. See the complete story here.
