If you're using Microsoft Exchange (included in Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.x) or Microsoft Outlook to send email, you can appreciate the ability to send mail to many different online services/mail delivery systems using a single common interface. However, specifying which mail delivery system (Internet, CompuServe, Microsoft Network, etc.) to use for a given address is not always easy using the default configuration.
Here's an easier way:

Specify the delivery system id followed by a colon (:) and the email address.

Delivery system prefix               Type of system

COMPUSERVE:                         CompuServe
FAX:                                      Fax system
MSN:                                     Microsoft Network
SMTP:                                   Internet

For example, to send an email using the Internet, use the "SMTP:<email address>" format.
