start>Run>type regedit
Make sure you export a backup before messing with such stuff if you dont already know about

anyways go there and delete all messenger stuff in software that is after installiing the messenger
by then you have removed everything set by the messenger befire which dont get usually removed by un install

im in regedit but theres so many things to click on, can u show more specific sorry cuz im not good at computers

ok first of all backup your registery by file>export>save it something
then start by clicking hkey_local_machine>software>right click on the the messenger submenu and click delete and confirm it

thats it easy ?
anyways i guess it might solve ur problem
anyways yahoo staff didnt respond to my questions in a proper answerthat solves ur problem so try this regedit thing as a final shot

got to the local machine then software then ur messenger thing  i think its called client or something like that but am not sure
delete that one
anyways in the hkey_current_user u can find it its called yahoo

ok here is the best solution so farTry to do this   when u talk online with 1 of your contacts go at preferences, general and privacy and check ur settings with them
